The Role
- Full-time, hospital-based working manager position balancing clinical care with leadership
- Provide medical leadership and coach veterinarians, technicians and assistants to deliver consistent, high-quality, client-centered care
- Oversee onboarding and skills development; organize case discussions and quality reviews
- Conduct medical record reviews and quality audits; support patient-safety follow-up
- Partner with practice management on workflow improvements, client experience and hospital KPIs
- Recruit, engage and retain veterinary talent; support student and candidate experiences in hospital
- Serve as or support the Responsible Veterinarian for permits; manage controlled substance compliance and inventory
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, clinical standards and safety protocols (including radiation safety)
- Guide equipment and supply needs for efficient, effective care
- Provide direct patient care in preventive medicine, dentistry, general surgery and internal medicine as schedule requires
- May include limited local travel between assigned Long Beach hospitals; some early-morning or weekend coverage may be scheduled

Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution
- Active California veterinary license (or ability to obtain promptly)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- Proven clinical competence in small-animal general practice, dentistry and routine soft-tissue surgery
- Leadership experience preferred, with strength in coaching, communication and team building
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and medical record/documentation skills
- Commitment to regulatory compliance, including controlled substances management and radiation safety
