The Role
- Provides medical leadership for a local group of hospitals, ensuring consistent, high-quality, patient- and client-centered care.
- Serves as a hospital-based, working leader, balancing clinical duties with coaching and operational oversight.
- Partners with practice leadership to achieve clinical quality metrics and operational goals.
- Conducts medical record reviews, quality audits, and patient safety event reviews; implements action plans to address gaps.
- Oversees onboarding, coaching, and skills development for veterinarians, including surgical and dental competencies.
- Ensures regulatory compliance, including controlled substance management and required permits.
- Supports recruiting efforts and provides an excellent experience for candidates and student externs.
- Promotes preventive care and effective client communication, assisting with resolution of care-related concerns.
- Manages medical equipment needs and maintenance in coordination with leadership.
- Works a consistent schedule that may include periodic weekend coverage and local travel between assigned hospitals.

Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Active license to practice veterinary medicine in Florida (or eligibility prior to start)
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Several years of small-animal clinical experience, including proficiency in routine surgery and dentistry
- Demonstrated leadership experience coaching veterinarians and teams; multi-site leadership experience is advantageous
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; comfortable in a fast-paced clinic setting
- Proficiency with medical records, data review, and practice management software
- Commitment to collaborative, inclusive team culture and continuous improvement
